No doubt most of us remember playing with radio-controlled cars as kids. It was endless fun – until the batteries ran out. Maybe you even new (or were) the rich kid down the street whose dad bought him an RC car with a gas-powered engine. Sure, he might have gotten it run over, or crashed it into a curb at full speed two days later, but it was great while it lasted. And, it was long enough to realize that it was way cooler than one that was ¼ the size and ate up AA batteries left and right.
Well, the folks at Mammuth Works must have been on the same wavelength, because they’ve come up with a man-sized version of the gas-powered toy from our youth. The “Rewarron” is the name of their 1/3-scale, six -foot RC truck. Starting at $5500, it has more features than a lot of cars on the road right now, including ABS, traction control, and an optional touch-screen system for controlling everything from brake balance to telemetry.
Four-wheel disc brakes and adjustable dampers are some of the perks that come with the top-of-the-line model. Yes, there are different trim levels for this miniature beast, and the highest, known as the “Competition” trim can be yours for a hefty $15,000.
The only truly bad news here is that the Rewarron is still in the prototype stage, but pre-orders are being accepted. So if you’re still a kid at heart with a few grand to spare, then for what it’s worth, we would consider this a worthy pursuit indeed.
